PROTEINS INVOLVED IN CELL DIVISION

This is a biochemistry lecture of the cell division and some protein involved in it. It attempts to show different aspects of this major biological process mainly during abiotic stress. Flash animations are reflecting DNA damage, repair and Signal Transduction Pathways of cell division checkpoints.

Mitosis, cell division. Behind the scene many proteins have their roles in this complex biological process. Here after some major proteins and their functions.

CDK a protein kinase and its major substrate, cyclin protein are the proteins, which trigger the enter-points of G1/S and G2/M phase. CDK is the kinese which controls cell division.

ATR is a protein kinase involved in cell division signaling. If DNA damage occurs during the cell division mitosis stalls and DNA repair takes place. ATR is the protein which turns off the mitosis until DNA is repaired.
